Re: Learned something new today

I had a chest style freezer once but never again.  Hated standing on my head digging through it trying to find things.  An upright is so much more efficient and easy to use.  There's no comparison.

yeah, the sister in Ind said she's so short she almost fell into hers and was afraid the lid would close on her LOL

Everybody seems to like the uprights better. Once I save the money I'll give mine away and go the upright route I guess.

I just always thought they woud have a frost free chest type.

@SharkE

Ive never had a chest freezer. Had upright freezers for the past 40 years or so - all of them frost free. Takes up half the floor space, too.

like many, i started off with a chest freezer and that defrosting was a pain, you know where. before it died, i bought and upright. one of my best purchases ever! for one thing - i can see everything and don't have to move 5 things to get to the one i want.

well worth the money, if you wait for a sale.

and if you live someplace where the winters are brutal, you will really love it 'cause you can fill it up in oct and won't need to buy much if anything, almost until sometime in the spring (for a family of 2)

yes, it's a lot of vacuum sealing, but i make a trip in sept, then again in october because it takes me a while to vacuum seal that much meat, frozen veggies etc.
