Has anybody ever done this?

Last year, I did.

I went to one of my local K-Marts, and went to the lay-away department, and paid off a random strangers delinquent lay-away.

I did that again this year too.

The woman behind the counter asked me if I had a set dollar amount that I wanted to pay, and I told her that I did. She then asked me if I wanted to pay of just any lay-away, or one that had kids stuff of it. I told her something with kids stuff on it, because, to me, Christmas is about children, and it saddens me to think that there will be kids who wake up on Christmas morning, only to find that Santa didn't leave them anything.

I was able to pay off two lay-away's. One had a bike and helmet on it, the other, some toys and a comforter.

I loved riding my bike as a kid, and think every kid should have a bike.

I did it all anonymously, and in my mind, I picture the child waking up on Christmas morning, going out in to the living room, and finding a brand new shiny bike in front of the tree, and screaming with delight.

That's how I get my Christmas feeling.

I like knowing that I could help to make someone else's Christmas just a little bit better.

I just wish that I had the kind of $ so that I could pay off everybody's lay-away.

The woman behind the counter told me that quite a few people have been coming in and be Lay-Away Angels.

So, have you ever done it?

Was Yuban, then changed to Plaid Pants due to forum upgrade, and apparently, I'm back to being Yuban.
