@manny2

Yep. He should do what’s best. Maybe they’ll force him to resign by giving him an ultimatum ? You wouldn’t think he would take the chance of losing his retirement benefits.

It’s pretty bad when all 300 Sheriffs deputies voted No Confidence. 😳

On Ashleigh Banfield's podcast, she said the Gunthrie Family told the cops, Nancy left her doors unlocked. Apparently, they were the back doors.

@RescueLover, I believe there are approximately 900 deputies. One organization doesn't speak for them all.

When it comes to departments with an elected official they can become a cesspool of politics with various people with various motives jockeying for positions.

Admittedly, this guy has made mistakes. He's not investigating. He's an administrative figurehead with a homicide unit that in the past two years has a clearance rate of 100%.

I don't think in the middle of a major investigation would be the time to continue the discussion of a replacement, forced retirement or a recall.

To me it's more a distraction from the talking heads looking to fill airtime.

He lied on his resume about his service and didn’t disclose things about his past employment. Then he lied under oath when asked if he’d ever been suspended.

He’s been suspended multiple times.

Once for police brutality when he beat a handcuffed suspect with a flashlight.

The 300 deputies are all in the Union per the Union President, who spoke in front of the Board of Supervisors.

I understand your point, @Etoile308  but in this situation the concerns being raised don’t come from one organization or a handful of disgruntled people. When roughly 90–95% of a department reports dissatisfaction, that reflects a widespread internal problem, not isolated frustration. Many employees have independently described the same issues, which suggests a deeper pattern.

From the beginning, the level of public visibility and commentary was unusual for a law‑enforcement leader, and it created the impression that the spotlight was part of the appeal. That’s why some people feel the current situation isn’t just politics, it’s a response to long‑standing concerns from within the agency itself.

A recall or removal from office generally does not affect a sheriff’s pension, which is determined by years of service and contributions. Correct me if i am wrong. @RescueLover

For individuals driven by ego and control, resignation feels like personal defeat. They may double down, deflect blame, and resist self‑reflection when their authority is challenged. These behaviors stem from a need to maintain dominance and an underlying belief that consequences won’t apply to them.

I am just observing, I don’t know the Sheriff personally, I’m only going by what I see and what I hear. But something stood out to me. When he was asked whether he reopened the crime scene to the family too soon, he said something along the lines of, “Looking back, maybe I did… but I have a team and I trust them.”

That caught my attention. When a decision is being questioned, suddenly pointing to “the team” feels like a way to soften personal responsibility. It almost sets up a future explanation of, “It wasn’t just me, I trusted the people around me.”

I’m not making accusations, just noticing patterns in how he responds when his actions are under scrutiny. Sometimes what people choose to emphasize tells you as much as the actual answer. What do you think @RescueLover

Good observation and I agree.

He’s more Coach than Sheriff.

He should have lead in a clear direction and taken accountability for his actions in this case.

I’m watching parts of the interview now with Savannah and Hoda.

Samantha thinks it’s because of her that her Mom was kidnapped. 💔
Her brother Cameron was the one who told her that when she called him.

And she feels the 2 ransom letters they responded to were legit.

She also mentioned the back doors were propped open, so maybe they were never locked that night.

If you want to see it, it’s on Brian Entin’s YouTube channel.
