I can’t imagine the tan pants and knee brace belonging to Nancy. Everything about the situation points to her being in a nightgown or pajamas when she disappeared. And if she ever used a knee brace, she certainly wouldn’t have worn it to bed. It also makes no sense that an abductor would stop and have her get dressed and strap on a brace.

Yes Exploring with Jim.

Whoever was in that house was in there long enough that they could have had her put on clothes, even if it was over her pjs.

Does anyone know if proof of Nancy's returning home exists? I haven't seen proof besides Nancy's Sil said he brought her home.

From a behavioral standpoint, that scenario is not consistent with known abduction patterns. These events are rapid and high‑risk, and offenders do not introduce additional steps such as dressing a victim or applying a knee brace. Individuals do not sleep in orthopedic braces, and she would have been in nightwear.

I have thought about that too. @Seaside Lover  There is no independent verification of her entering the home, but the blood evidence confirms she was there at some point. Beyond that, the entire case is an anomaly, it doesn’t add up.

But the knee brace that was found was in a bag.

The case is unusual, @RescueLover  but it doesn’t automatically make every scenario more plausible. Some behaviors remain inherently unlikely, even in an odd case.  The action of having her get dressed and then even taking the knee brace in a bag wouldn’t serve the offender’s goal in any known behavioral model.

If spotted wouldn’t you rather have her in clothing vs pjs?
Very easy to put clothing on over pjs.

Besides the guy didn’t seem to be moving too quick outside to me.

So that tells me he took his time inside, even with her.
