Actually what the sheriff said was that the backpack was new and is exclusive to Walmart, but who's to say it wasn't bought through a secondary market like eBay. So they are expanding the search.

Or he said that to throw someone off, especially if it was purchased at a Walmart out of state, say in the Grand Junction area.

Or the backpack and clothing could have come from a Goodwill store or Salvation Army.

Or just plain gifted to him.

I’m still surprised nobody out there recognizes him.

I'm wondering if those following this senseless kidnapping watched the interview the local CBS Tucson channel had with the individual who was stopped and detained in the later towed Range Rover. His house was the one search by the FBI.

Not naming names.

The interview consisted of his repeatedly saying he wasn't involved. When answering questions he would begin with ah...ah...ah. The stalling tactic used when searching for what to say. Don't know how many watch Court TV with Vinnie Politan. I love it when he features the body language experts that go over witness statements or testimony. I would love to hear their take on this interview.

A few things struck me about the interview. First, he was clean shaven, unlike in past photos. Second, when stopped and questioned he thought being detained might be connected to the Nancy Guthrie case. I would think if I had a criminal history involving drugs and a weapon my thoughts would be that I as being stopped for something relating to drugs. Plus, I think the temperature was in the 90's that day. Luke was wearing a long sleeve shirt and tie. Over it was a collared heavy vest. Interesting choice.

This man has an attorney. If his attorney was on board with him doing the interview, I think he should be looking for new representation.

One more thought. He came into possession of this Range Rover after the kidnapping had taken place. Prior he had owned a small blue vehicle with front end damage. I don't know for a fact, but supposedly this car was retrieved and towed by his insurance company. It's been my experience that before an insurance company will pay out on a claim, they want to know a police report has been taken. I'm curious where and when this damaged occurred, and if that can be verified by more than just his word. I have a feeling, or at least hope the FBI got possession of the vehicle and has processed it.

Lastly, there is a connection between the Ranger Rover and another individual who's name has been mentioned, though I don't know if that's come from anyone official. (And it's not a family member.)

I'm sure that LE knows a lot more than the rest of us do and are doing due diligence to solve this case.  IMO, I don't think that anyone in Nancy's family had anything to do with this although  I do think it's probably a local person with knowledge of her habits.

@Etoile308

I watched the interview and noticed he was clean shaven.

And I also thought it was interesting he felt he was stopped because of the case vs something else. But he did say his Mom was watching the case and she probably told him about the traffic stop of the first detained subject.

But what I REALLY wanted was to see him walk in and sit down for the interview !!

Jenna and Sheinelle just mentioned that Savannah has returned to NY, has visited her colleagues at the studio and indicated that she intends to return to work at some point, whatever the outcome.

Not surprising that she will return. I’m sure her Mom would have wanted her to do that.

AND now she can use her voice to help missing persons cases everywhere !
