I haven't heard if there was forced entry into her house. Does anyone know?

@Tissyanne - forced entry was reported by police three weeks ago, within the first couple of days after Nancy went missing.

@JeanLouiseFinch , thank you for answering my question.

I can't imagine why if a home invasion/robbery 'went wrong' why they would take the body.  It's easier to leave the body behind.

@Lucky Charm , I suppose it could have been a kidnapping for ransom, and she passed right away. Then they couldn't prove she was alive.

I've always thought that the motive had something to do with Savannah - either a deranged fan or someone who holds a grudge for some reason.  It may be coincidental but Savannah was scheduled to be leaving for the Olympics shortly after her mother's abduction.

I do hope that she will return to work eventually no matter what the outcome.  Whoever did this has taken enough away from her already.

That was my original thought, too, @Linmo, but I'd have expected a bizarre statement from the culprit by now. 🤷‍♀️

Well, perhaps things went wrong after they had abducted her, not in her home.

Taking the body has forced law enforcement to prioritize finding Mrs Guthrie. If the body was left, the priority from day one would be finding the culprits.

Taking the body buys time for the perpetrators.

Taking a deceased body seems like the worst case scenario for the perp.  He would have to find a location for disposal without being seen.  Then there will be DNA all over the car used for transport and on his clothing, etc.

It is a better scenario than leaving the body so that the focus would be on who killed the woman. The perp/s has/have now had a month to dispose of the body and clean up any evidence while the police are looking for a kidnapped woman.

It's being reported that the authorities are going to release Nancy's house back to the family...again.

One thing I think is true, if the perp is ever caught and brought up on charges, his defense attorney will have an abundance of challenges to the prosecution from all the ways the crime scene has been repeatedly compromised.

I agree @San Antonio Gal

Removing a person requires more effort, more risk, and more exposure. Leaving someone at the scene is the fastest way out for an offender. Taking a body does not simplify anything, and it does not change the fact that investigators would still be focused on finding whoever is responsible. There are also established patterns in human behavior during criminal events, and this type of action does not fit the typical pattern associated with a simple robbery or opportunistic crime.
