I fluctuate among most name brands depending what is on sale.

In December I bought HSN's TS EcoEgg detergent.  I could open the blue egg but not the white one.  I've been using the blue one for about a month I do not think it does much for visible stains.  Usually when I use a liquid, a little directly on the stain removes it.

Tide is my general use detergent. I think it is because I like the nameSmiley Happy

However, I wash most of my clothes in Woolite (HE), full loads, on the hand wash cycle.

We only use ALL liquid, the free and clear hypoallergenic b.c my husband is allergic to regular laundry detergents. We get the big jug at BJs with the pump and being its just the 2 of us it lasts long.

Thanks to all who recommended Nellie's All Natural Laundry Soda. I will have to try it!

@foggy! It is really fun to make. I just cut my Fels Naptha into chunks with a knife & then put it into my food processor with the s blade & start adding the powders to grind it up into a fine powder. I never thought to let the bars dry out like @Eliana said, but I will try that. I usually make 6 batches at a time, since I give a lot away to my daughter & DIL. I keep it in a large glass canister on the top of the dryier & I love how homey it looks. LOL

Thanks dusty, you're encouragement helped. I was just considering the work involved may be more of a pain than its worth but then you said its fun to make!

You and Eliana are probably onto something. It's worth a try for me, since you've both find this detergent better than whatever ones you've tried previously, and have kept using it with good results.

I use Planet  because it is not tested on animals.

I only use laundry detergent from cruelty free brands too, however, so many aren't very good!

I use similar recipe using goat milk laundry bar, washing soda, borax , white vinegar for rinse.
I gave up dryer sheets using wool balls.
I read ingredients on most of free & clear detergents, made this choice for sensitive skin.

Anyone have a favorite brand?  It's just me and my husband-both retired.  No need for super heavy duty!  Thanks...

@nana59  I use the Green Grab brand.  They have both the pods and just the powder whatever your preferance.  It is totally environmentally safe and leaves the clothes smelling so so good!  If you like unscented they have that also.  It really cleans everything so so good with out using any bleach. My whites come out white.

I buy it from Vitacost on line.  No sales tax for me if I buy it that way.   I have not checked out locally where it might be, but, most likely a natural food store environment and a much higher price than Vitacost plus sales tax.  I also use Mr Rebates with Vitacost and get between 6 and 8 % off of each order.  I order LOT AND LOTS  of  supplements and grocery from Vitacost every month.

Thanks for this recommendation @SeaMaiden.  When I was younger, my mom used Wisk, All, Era and Tide and I never had any problem and clothes were clean.  I don't know if some of these formulas have changed, and I probably would have no problem with any of those today either, but I do like the idea of using a more natural detergent.

I've used Nellie's and didn't think it got my clothes that clean, so I'm not repurchasing that.  I might try the GrabGreen.  Curious as to whether you have used a scent and which one you might like?  I was debating on either the unscented or the Lavendar/Vanilla, but would only use the latter if I thought the scent was light.  It looks like it is available retail from Bed Bath & Beyond and Target.  Never used pods either but that seems to be the new trend so might give those a try.
