@chiclets they are here even during our stay at home order. But you should check your own locality.

I have a washer and dryer in my house. I was curious as to what others are doing if they needed to use the laundromat.

Yes they are open. It is recommended that you wash clothes at the warmest temperature your clothes can take, of course detergent to kill the virus if it is on your clothes.

They are in most Florida counties.

While the warm and hot water will kill the germs of the virus, it's still important before use to wipe the door handles and the outside of the machines. Don't forget the folding tables and carts as well.

Just curious, are laundromats allowed to be opened?

How would people without washing machines and dryers be able to clean their clothes?

If you dropped your laundry off how could you be sure they were cleaned in a clean machine?

@chiclets

I don’t see how anyone could be sure the machines are clean, unless they cleaned them themselves.

@willdob3  I have a washer but my dryer bit the dust and I haven't replaced it. On Monday, I went to local laundromat. On the door was posted: no more than 10 people inside, separate clothes at home, wait in car for clothes to finish washing or drying, and fold clothes at home. I am sure weekends were harder to manage but I had no difficulty on Monday morning.

I took my clothes to my local laundromat on Friday of last week and it was quite busy despite it being just 6:00 AM. I drove past it on Wednesday morning and it was closed. I don't know if NJ has forced them to close or if they were just doing it on their own. They're typically open 365 days a year, so it was weird seeing it closed. We have two in town and I didn't notice if the one farther away was open or not. Handwashing clothes and letting them dry in the sun is a good alternative though. Assuming it ever stops raining here.

I would think laundromats are open because it's considered an essential business.
