Just curious, are laundromats allowed to be opened?

How would people without washing machines and dryers be able to clean their clothes?

If you dropped your laundry off how could you be sure they were cleaned in a clean machine?

My Dh asked the same question today

I live in a hi-rise building - we have a laundry room with lots of washing machines and dryers.  I do my own laundry.

Some of my neighbors send their laundry out - someone picks it up, washes it, folds it and returns it.  Most of them have used the same service for years.

One would think that soap and water in the washing machine would be a "clean machine" and the heat of the dryer would be a "clean dryer"  whether you do your laundry down in the laundry room, send t out - or do it in your own home.

Only issue - one of my friends inadvertently put her cashmere sweater (gift from her daughter) in her laundry bag ... it came back several sizes too small.

IMO laundromats are essential businesses.  Everyone needs clean clothing esp. now!!!

@chiclets

Yes, laundromats are considered to be essential businesses and they are allowed to be open

I’m not sure how the social distancing will wor at some of those places. All the laundromats I’ve ever been in were small & usually crowded with people. It will be another challenge.
