Jimmy Fallon is not a Jay Leno or a Johnny Carson. He never will be. The Tonight a Show is going in an entirely different direction ....toward younger viewers. BTW the Ew! sketch was stupid IMHO I watched last night...Justin was soooo good....if you look in the audience, the people are younger than the past shows.

Now that the first week is in the can; I find that it's not The Tonight Show but its The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon on at an earlier time.

IMO, I think he should have kept some of the previous hosts funny skits - like Headlines.

I enjoyed the new skits with some of the guests, but again this is what he did when he hosted The Late Show.

I must say that there is more music on this show from his Tonight Show band, The Roots.

That is something I wish Leno had done once in a while, have the Ricky Minor band play an entire music piece and not just the intros to guests or to commercial breaks.

I wish Fallon well; maybe even the caliber of the guests will improve as well because I felt Leno was coasting on the 'kindness of strangers' to fill his studio in Burbank the last 6 months it was there.

I agree he's taking the show in a different direction. Time will tell how that progresses.

Loren Michaels is the executive producer so yes, I think it will very much be like SNL.

I love Jimmy and he's going to do a great job, imo.

Loved MO, JT, and Will Farrell.

I hope that he does well, too. I could be wrong about this, but I think it takes time for a new host to find their way around, so to speak.

I think NBC's realized they can never go back to the classic Carson days. They've made so many slip-ups with their late-night programming, so I have to believe they did a lot of research before making this move. However, late-night tv is a completely different animal now, with so much available as an alternative to the network shows. I think they're aiming for the SNL audience while trying to keep a softer touch than SNL for the benefit viewers "not that into" SNL.

I hope Jimmy does well. He really does seem to be a nice fellow, well-liked by his peers, and I've always enjoyed his comedy.

Let's give him a chance, it has only been one week. I'm hoping he won't be political.

I get the feeling that Mr. Fallon will be less political than his predecessor. And a truer measure of his viewership will occur after the Olympics are over.

I've always been a fan of Fallon's Late Night Show. I think he's multi-talented & good at everything he does! Comedy, (sing & dance, at least in comedy sketches!) and he seems to have soooo many friends in show biz! He does seem like an adventurous, nice guy who just enjoys life!

To be honest, i'm not always in the mood for the silly skits and games on his show. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. But those skits always reminded me of Carson's Tonight show! Carson always had silly skits where he dressed as a character with or without a guest, and often the schtick was just plain dumb! Hey, it was comedy! As for the "Ew" routines, i love when Fallon does that! or anytime he dresses as a woman! Many people loved Milton Berle for it.. drag has been a comedy favourite for years on this continent and others!

I hope Fallon's Tonight Show scores. P.S. i'm a constant channel flipper and also tend to watch Letterman, Kimmel, QVC, and Law & Order (if one happens to be on!) all at the same time! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I think Jimmy Fallon's Ew routine is getting tiresome already. I just fail to see the humor in it after you've seen it once. Also, I know of no one that speaks that way...child, teen or adult, thankfully.
