LOL - I would have to assume by your comment that you have absolutely no clue who Gabby Giffords and her husband are, without looking them up - which you're probably done by now.
oh she knows.....
Well then, it makes her look like total **** doesn't it? Politics, which some are clearly trying to inject into this thread, should not enter into situations such as the Giffords. And do we also check the affiliations of astronauts now, and approve or disapprove of them based on that?

The event is run by a professional association for the journalists .... the White House Correspondents Association. Why would you think your tax dollars would be used?
She probably, like many people, know we are TRILLIONS of dollars in debt because of government spending. AND it does not matter what administration did what. Government chronically takes money and applies it in all the wrong places and then turns around and does it yet again.

I am pretty sure the Gabby comment was not about politics.

The government DID NOT pay for the event.
Those who buy tickets pay for the entire thing. It has been reported that most tickets are bought in groups by corporations.

What, then? Gun control? I can't imagine what else. But if it's that, my initial assessment still stands ;-)

A long history of one sided fun and games.

It is an affront to decency to read the disparaging comment about Gabby Giffords and her husband. I don't care what political side one takes or what gun control beliefs one has; when people are directly involved via a personal tragic experience, their opinions and activism must be respected.

Yes, it is. I think that was the point.

The people with the cameras are at fault for snubbing courageous Gabby Giffords.
The Smiths probably didn't see who was behind them and of course they are used to a red-carpet.
