LOL - I would have to assume by your comment that you have absolutely no clue who Gabby Giffords and her husband are, without looking them up - which you're probably done by now.

@Hooty wrote:@dooBdoo, I am not trying to prove any point, but I have a right to my opinion as much as you do, and I don't believe everything I read, thank you very much!
Greetings, @Hooty.
I don't see anyone who is disallowing your opinion but there also are facts about this issue -- a very public issue, and all the first ladies follow the same guidelines. Calling those of us who disagree with your opinion about this fact "gullible" really comes across as an attempt to demean, personally, other posters... which was why I mentioned it. Plus, I suspect that few of us believe "everything we read."
Specifically what inside information do you have about the first ladies' gowns? I genuinely would like to know.

what in the world do you find tiresome about Gabby Giffords and her husband?
Gabby faced nearly insurmountable odds in recovering from the gunshot wound to her head and is now very active in a cause that is important. I consider her a hero.
Well said.
I don't think the writer knows who Gabby Giffords is. I hope that is all that is and not someone actually making such a statement about such a special woman who inspires so many.

What has always amused me is, Hollywood stars think we really care what they do. I could care less what they all do. They need to get over themselves! 👏

Aw, heck, what's all the fuss about. Jada just had that dress that she didn't wear to the Academy Awards lying around the house & needed to wear it to justify how much she spent on it. LOL!![]()

I think the writer knows exactly who Gabby is.

It's all down to two things - the media, and the lowest common denominator in our general population.
1) There wouldn't be so many highly successful (in advertising dollars) reality shows, or newsrag publications, if people didn't watch and *buy.*
Many people are intelligent enough to spot hype and lies, and many people have other interests such as the (genuine) news, world events, a wide variety of cultural events and places, travel, hobbies, etc. - and many people are not, and do not.
2) The media, who are also paid to "give people what they want", make sure that the money-spending masses have it shoved in their face constantly.
It's a 50-50 thing - a certain portion of the population is fascinated with all the phony kwap and devote a lot of time and money to it, and the media makes sure it continues to be front and center, because it pays their mortgages.
