First one opened back in 1953..Today last one is closing! Big part of my childhood! All you can eat! To wonderful candies. Thanks for the memories.

Brings back sweet memories for me as a child. My grandmother lived in Forest Hills on Queens Blvd, and there was a HJ about a block away, across the blvd. I used to LOVE their ice cream, especially the banana! Didn't they also have good fried clams?

Where is this Howard Johnson's? We were in Lake George NY last year on vacation and they had a Howard Johnson's restaurant. It was overpriced ($16.96 for an omlette) and the service stunk! I wouldn't go back.

Passing times for sure. My best memory is staying at the Howard Johnson's in Lake Placid NY. They had the most wonderful indoor pool. Also had the restaurant nearby for breakfast.

Sad! My family always stayed in Howard Johnsons and, yes, I remember clams and hit fudge cake, etc. I have such great memories of them going on family vacations as I was growing up, particularly in Florida.
