Lab with UTI

My 5 yer old lab has a UTI and Vet prescibed Amoxicillin, 800 mg twice a day. This was not her ususal vet, the dose is the maximum. According to Vet Formulary based on her weight she should get 400-800 mg once to twice a day. Has anyone with a similar sized dog given this large of a dose? (800 mg twice a day) TIA, Sherrie
