So, there is another Luminara thread started on the Today Special Value Forum.

I will copy where I posted:

I was too!!  And was also looking for the candles without the high/low top.  Though pretty, this style looks best when the back of the candle is up against something - wall, inside of cabinet, back of fireplace etc.   Does not look as good on a free standing base...am still deciding on purchase!

Oh, and the ivory looks very yellow to me.   I have other ivory Luminara candles and they do not have that golden cast.

@151949  I'm still thinking about it.  If you buy just one in the store the 8 inch can run around $60.00 for just one.  So $22.00 a candle isn't too bad. Still deciding.......

I don't know where you shop but that would not fly where I live.

I'm not sure you recognize these are the Luminaria candles and not just a regular flameless. Even with a 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond, the Q prices are better for this set.  If you are in the market for Luminarias and you like this configuration, this is a very good value.

Are you saying no one where you live buys Luminaria candles?  Really?

If you want to spend it go right ahead - it's your money. I have several flameless candles and have never paid anywhere near $60 for one & never will.

No offense ladies, but I think we have lost our minds to pay this for candles. I am certainly including myself in this also.  Its just crazy!!

Make it a "TSV" and people will pay anything for it.

I think there are a couple of things to consider in what was yesterday's TSV and pricing.

The price per candle was actually pretty good.

What one has to decide is if the sizes and colors work for them. They were thinner than most of the Luminara, and some people will like that others will not.

They are the 'base model' in the color shades and the smooth wax styling. Some, like me find that a bit boring but others think it the perfect backdrop for using in many different settings and displays. What I see as a bit boring, they are seeing as sleek and modern, or simply easy to mix with a lot of other textures, very versatile.

And when it comes to the cost of any home decor piece, from furniture to accessories, you often get what you pay for. Not all flameless candles are equal. Many that are out in brick and mortar stores and at a lower price point look like it, they look cheap. Even these TSV candles, in my opinion are on the 'cheap' side of this brand, and need a lot of additions to make them look better, in my opinion. Some more expensive flameless candles can be stand alone pieces, or need very little to dress them up, but the cheaper ones seem to need more dressing to disguise the inferior quality.

I know for me, I'll invest what others might think is a lot of money in just the right lantern and candle to go inside, costing well over $100 for one display set, in order to get the look and quality I want. I find that when I have a really good piece or vignette, I tend to be satisfied, and buy less. I think it is when we are not completely happy with a look or a piece, that we keep seeking (and spending) to make something look 'better'.

I also keep my decor pieces for decades (literally, I really do) so a big up front investment to make my home look the way I want is really much less money spent than changing things over repeatedly.

I saw thees @katte, and thanks for the reminder!

I was hoping these would be the TSV and they would bring a lot more colors. But no! It was not to be!
