Does paying off the mortgage on my birthday two weeks ago count?

@IamMrsG -

If if were me, I'd consider paying off the mortgage a gift worthy of naming a holiday after! I might celebrate it annually (semi-annually?) with a party or some such thing. The gift that keeps giving & is worth remembering.

BTW, happy belated birthday!

Re: LAST GIFT YOU BOUGHT YOURSELF?

@willdob3  Thank you for the birthday wish. Woman Happy

DH and I dithered for about a year as to the best financial decision for us.  Finally, we arbitrarily agreed on a balance for when we would 'pull the trigger.'  We did not plan the final payment for our birthdays (we're days apart), it just happily worked out that way.

We did celebrate some--shared a nice bottle of champagne after we left the bank that day, but have another, better, bottle waiting for when the deed arrives.  Being debt free is a blessing, a gift, for which we are very grateful.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.
