The world of the very wealthy is vastly different from the world those of us posting here live in. Celebrities are an entirely different breed altogether. I've never understood why anyone would consider those who they have nothing in common with as being someone to look up to as a role model; but that's me. I glance over their antics purely for entertainment and being REALLY honest....ONLY when it is a thread on a forum on a site I am visiting. In other words, I don't go out of my why to hear or read about them.

As for the two pictures: I don't see the issue or hypocrisy. In the first, these are animals who died in the fires in their natural habitat. The latter shows a pair of slippers in mink where the animal is farm raised. Would the outrage be the same if they were made of leather?

The question I ask myself is this: how do her posts affect my life? Answer: They don't.

The way I interpret it is that the perceived hypocrisy would be her preferring one species of animal over another? The value of a koala's life is superior to a mink's. Therefore, she is a speciesist, if anything. But a lot of us are.

This complacency could apply to any of us. The pain Australia is experiencing is immeasurable. Our country's involvement with Iran now has thrown our military families into stress only they know. Yet all of us can be caught in shallow and selfish moments. ALL of us.
