Kudos to Tim Gunn

[ Edited ]

Tim Gunn has his collection here at QVC. And one has to admire not only his sense of style but his common sense, too.

I won't post the link but recently he was interviewed by Huffington Post's online video edition.

When asked about the (so called) "fashion collection" by Kanye West, Mr. Gunn explained beautifully why its NOT fashion or even worthy of anyone's time or interest (let alone, dollars).

He then went on to give one of the best reasoned explanations of what it is that makes the entire Kardashian clan so offensive to everything visual, fashion, moral and of any sort of taste.

No love loss, to say the least.

But its good to hear someone of such a high profile with genuine fashion knowledge and credibility explain what all is wrong in this strange, manufactured adoration of things vulgar (or "Kardashian" as he might say very plainly).

And while there may be "different strokes for different folks", I personally do think that certain strokes can be harmful to the culture and to young women in particular. If the role models of not only behavior and but also of style or fashion are so bottom feeder (no pun intended) as to make the Kardashians such moguls, I rue the day when young men and women grow into their majority thinking that somehow cheap and skanky is acceptable and even desirable.

Its interesting, though, how Gunn puts it out there very plainly that a machine is behind it all - a big dollar machine - which recognizes no taste, merit or responsibility.

I don't know anything about Mr. Gunn, but of course he's entitled to his opinion.  I don't find the Kardashians offensive.  I find the Duggars and their brand of hypocritical, homophobic proselytizing offensive. The "do as I say, not as I do" attitude and the fact they work to pass legislation that limits the rights of others makes me sick.  At least the Kardashians are above board about who they are.  If you want to talk vulgar, driven by the quest for the almighty dollar, look no further than the Arkansas brood of mommy and daddy D.

You have sacrificed nothing and no one.

Hi @Maudelynn

I find both families equally offensive,  Your assessment of the family from Arkansas is 'spot on'.

I think I know who Tim Gunn is, but may have to google him.  He looks like Anderson Cooper a little?

Don't know the Dugards really, they're part of this story how?

Kanye West, bleck.  I think I like the Kardashians more than him!

Sorry, there's no 'kudos.'

If he believes in his own words, he's bought into the Kardashian Wave.

I've always said,

"Apathy is the Kardashian worst nightmare.

Stop talking about them & they'll go away."

If he DOESN'T believe in his own words, he's wise to connect his name to a social media 'click bait' name...especially DAYS before the new PRJr show premieres.   Coincidence?

IknowIknow, he has said things about them before, but this sounds so beautifully orchestrated Public Relations, it just can't be ignored.

If anyone wants to be noticed, just place your name & 'Kardashian' in the same sentence.  Instant fame.

Good public relations...and more $$$ for the K's.

They're probably saying, "Thank you, Tim Gunn."

What is Tim Gunn's line please, OP?  I haven't seen one and there isn't anything listed under his first or last name.  Thanks!

Tim Gunn shared his opinion on the vulgarity of the K clan.  I shared mine- which is the Ks are not nearly as vulgar as the Duggars.
