We built our home in 2007. The builder put in all GE appliances. All of them are cr@p. They all have issues that started a few years into their life, but we have hung onto them. They all have a stainless steel finish.
We need to replace our dishwasher first. Now my son had a GE dishwasher that was only 4 years old, and it stopped working properly. The repair guy told them it would be better to get a new one. His appliances are also stainless steel. Apparently, according to my son, the stainless steel "color" varies from one brand to another. So if he got something other than GE, it would not be the same shade. Being the slightly OCD that he is, he got another GE dishwasher so that it would look the same. So far he likes it, but this has only been a few months.
I refuse to get another GE product. The stainless steel just never stays nice looking in my opinion. I am thinking about going with a black dishwasher. It will be awhile before we can afford to replace anything else, so the colors will have to co-exist.
Does anyone else have mixed colors of appliances? I think it will look okay, but I don't want to regret my $1,000 decision. Any thoughts?

For me, I kind of like them to be the same. Mine are all black. I love black, and I accent the black in my kitchen with red because I love both colors.
Well, actually, my latest refrigerator is 'black stainless'. The doors are a little lighter in color than all my regular black appliances, but it works. The rest of the refrigerator is the regular black, so it's just the doors that are the lighter look of black.
I don't think I would like the regular stainless steel for appliances, though. That's just me. I actually always wanted black appliances so when we bought this house and they just happened to be black I was very pleased.
I also always wanted a kitchen tv, so I made that happen (it's black, too. heh) years ago and have a little 19" tv in one corner near the sink/window part of my kitchen. It's on a black stand that has a drawer under it, so I can store the remote and other stuff in there. Love it! ![]()

I would avoid mismatched colors myself, especially if one will stick out like a sore thumb.

In the low-income apartments I've rented, appliance colors are often mixed.
Have to just accept it, so I use colors I enjoy for my kitchen linens etc..

Maybe look at a GE and non GE appiance side by side in Lowes or Home Depot to see if the color variation is noticeable. Had to have the compresser replaced on a GE fridge that was four months old.

I would suggest that you fine one that you can put something to match the doors of your cabinet. They do make those as well.

I hope GE doesn't make any of our aircraft. (I'm another GE appliance user. Make that ex-user.)

@ladyann45 I had not thought of that. I will have to look into it. Thanks!

@Judaline I've worked in the aviation industry...many, many a GE engine out there...but, every division is different...not sure OP's bad experience with kitchen appliances transfers over to a/c engines. Though I'm sure you were being a tad facetious.
I don't want to jinx them...but I have 22 year old GE stove and fridge in my condo. No probs. But, that said...I'm sure the mfg. has evolved, and perhaps not for the better over that time. Or... @Puppy Lips you were unlucky with some lemons.
Getting prepared to do a kitchen redo hopefully soon though, hoping they last before needing them SOS in this supply chain climate. Not sure what I'll get this time, but yes, I want them to coordinate. I never jumped on the stainless steele bandwagon, still not totally excited by it, though it looks fine in kitchens. Still seems cold to me.
I have a white fridge, dishwasher, and my oven is black/white. Yep, old school, but I still like them.
Small condo kitchen with white cabinets too. I'll be sticking to white cabinetry but haven't decided on appliances yet. I've seen Ikea makeovers with SS appliances and they were nice enough.
If OP you are going with SS, yes...I certainly would want them to be exactly the same shade of SS.
Good luck!
