I know in some families it is done, but I've always been uncomfortable seeing anyone kiss any child on the lips.

It happens a lot with babies and toddlers and their parents/siblings/grandparents, and that doesn't bother me, as they can be quite affectionate and messy kissers. But once a child is older than that, I find it inappropriate for kissing on the lips/mouth. And never by someone like a neighbor.

It appears the daily care of this child has been delegated to the neighbor.

It doesn't matter if there is a dad or who the dad might be.  Fortune never mentioned if  a dad is there and she has been asked that question.

My point is, the kissing aside, this child appears to be lacking full care by her own mom.

This story has quite a few twists and turns.  I feel the kissing is only one part of concern for this little girl.

We really don't know anything about this  family except for an observation by a neighbor..

I bought up the question about the little girl's dad. If the mom is legally blind and doesn't leave the house, I'm wondering if her dad/siblings are aware of what is happening. The OP seems to have vanished.

It's just not appropriate to kiss a child on the lips!!! I was  a daddy's girl.My father hugged & kissed me frequently, but never on the lips!! I have always hugged & kissed my son,but never on the lips!!!!

     Something is off here!!

@scatcatBeing "legally blind" doesn't mean her mom cannot see or is unable to care for her child.

The concern I have is that this child is never at home except, apparently, to sleep.

Something doesn't add up.

Vicious dog aside, I would never let my son spend all that time at the house of a friend; I wanted his friends over so that I could observe their behavior, too.

When we have stories such as this and details are added little by slow I actually start wondering if I swam too close to the fishing pole.  lol

I wouldn't want my husband kissing my kids' friends on the lips.   It's just not appropriate

Ok - putting aside that she is "legally blind", it appears she is not taking care of her child.  That is why I asked about the dad. Pat yourself on the back for being a better parent to your son than this woman is. He sounds like a lucky kid
