It is not a photograph.
Art offers something different.
He chose the Artist, not the portrait.
It was started before he was king.

There will be more, from other artists.

My first impression was that he looks like he is surrounded by flames maybe symbolic of where he will end up in the next life. I never would have chosen this background. But as far as his face goes he looks younger in this portrait than he does  in real life.
