Kindle Question

This may seem like a silly question to those of you who own Kindles, but after a book is downloaded does your Kindle store it in a library? What if you want to reread a book you've already purchased on your Kindle?

I'm considering a Kindle and want to know how easy it is to download books, read on it, etc. Is it heavy, I mean for reading in bed?
