The shirt is too long for JT. If it was at her natural waist or just at the top of the hip, I think it would be flattering.
I love a nautical stripe, and have many tops and sweaters, but have to realize whatever I purchase cannot draw more attention to the larger areas of my body. (And all seams have to match and the sleeves.)

I have a couple of very simple stripes heavy winter sweaters from Land's End. Part of their Drifter sweaters that they sell. Just placed another order for a pretty painterly striped sweater. They carry petites!

Wear whatever you like that makes you happy.
@Chucklehead It will never be "outdated thinking" to want to look your best.

@santorini, I'm glad we are in agreement on that. We probably have different views on whether there is only one way to "look your best", though.

I've got a couple Belle horizontal striped sleeveless sweaters. I wear them under solid color cardigans, etc. They are nice. I like stripes in a subtle way. I'm not a fan of most styles with horizontal stripes.
I think someone must like them or they'd get the message and discontinue them. I'm fine with stores selling things I am not interested in. I don't really want to live in a world where everyone wears what I wear.

I agree with you, @Chucklehead maybe “outdated” isn’t the right word. It’s more that we are all a lot more aware that words hurt. None of us really have any business critiquing someone else’s body or what they choose to wear, whether it’s Jane Treacy in horizontal stripes or anyone else. Let people live and enjoy what they like. Worry about the reflection in the mirror.
