Kilauea Erupting

I rarely post here but to those interested and awake, Kilauea is erupting again, the 24th episode. To view, google usgs live kilauea and click on the live cameras. There are 3-east, west and south Halemaumau crater. The eruptions usually last several hours.

One time when we were visiting Hawaii we went to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and while there were no alerts at that time, a friend with us ("Henry") was so uneasy we had to leave. His wife was OK but he was petrified the entire time! I'm talking shaking, sweating, holding onto the rental car - it was "wow let's get him out of here right now" time. And he is a pretty much fearless guy too. But volcanos!

I was watching reports of Mt Etna the other day (after it erupted again on June 2) and saw all the tourists running away from it (they were all fine). I told my DH if that had happened when we were in Hawaii I believe Henry would have just passed out and we would have had to carry him!

I believe i heard Kilauea erupted last week but has since settled down again and is now not erupting.

Wow! That is something I would not like to live anywhere near!

I believe you mean the one in Hawaii. There's another volcano erupting in Sicily.

There's another that may erupt in the ocean, about 300 miles west of the Oregon coast.
