@San Antonio Gal She really was.  I think a new hairstyle, or even just some softening around the face would do a lot for her.  However, I think she likes her no-fuss "do" that she can just pull back for riding is her preference. A color change might help too.

 

She has always had very wiry hair.  I have read that the family jokes she colors it with shoe polish.  Clearly her hair is not her priority.
