Re: KING CHARLES' ADDRESS TO THE NATION

I understand the speech was pre-recorded, not live.  Does anyone know when it was canned - weeks, months, years ago?

At any rate. I look forward to hearing how the Charles administration will rule the empire. Smiley Happy

@Sooner

I had the impression yesterday that this was all automatic as well, but I did not want to mention in case I was incorrect. Some take such pleasure in correcting people for minor errors.

He did a fine job. He tried to relax a bit, but some big intakes of breath told me it was difficult.

He has huge shoes to fill, without the adoration and respect his mother had. But I think King Charles will rise to the occasion.

 "Prince of Wales. The title is intended for the male heir apparent to the throne, but is an appointment, rather than a birthright. In fact every male heir to the British throne has been given the title"

was curious about it so I looked it up, when Charles became POW in the 70's there was a big ceremony in Wales. but looks like that is not

 a given

Re: KING CHARLES' ADDRESS TO THE NATION

Did not watch.  While QEII was admirable in many respects, I won't say what I think of King Charles III.  Just part of another dysfunctional family.

The only useful part of this is that is has taken the focus off our political situation for awhile and the various weather problems throughout the USA.

Re: KING CHARLES' ADDRESS TO THE NATION

From what I saw he performed well enough.  He's certainly had time to prepare for this occasion.  I am hoping the endless coverage of his mother's death will cease until the funeral.

Re: KING CHARLES' ADDRESS TO THE NATION

From Today dot com news:

During his first televised address as king, Charles confirmed that William and Kate would also inherit the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales. Their social media accounts were changed to reflect those titles.

William and Kate retain the titles of Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge as well.
