Love and doubt have never been on speaking terms.

Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hours of separation.

1.   To belittle, you have to be little.

2.   Exaggeration is truth that has lost its temper.

3.   We are all like the bright moon, we still have our dark side.

4.   We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them.

5.   Trust in dreams, for in them is the hidden gate to eternity.

6.   You may forget with whom you laughed, but you will never forget with whom you wept.

7.   Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair, but manifestations of strength and resolutions.

8.   Out of suffering have emerged the strong souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.

9.   The smallest act of kindness is worth the greatest

intention.

10.   If you focus on the hurt, you will continue to suffer.  If you focus on the lesson, you will continue to grow.

                          On Marriage

11.   Let there be space in your togetherness.

12.   Marriage is like a golden ring in a chain, whose beginning is like a glass and whose ending is eternity.

13.   No human relation gives one possession in another - every two souls are absolutely different.  In friendship or in love, the two side by side raise hands together to find what one cannot reach alone.

I was introduced to the works of Khalil Gibran in the 50's and 60's and had the entire collection of his books.  Not having that collection any longer saddens me, but as we all know, we cannot keep all of our possessions our entire life.

@Lindsays Grandma     Khalil Gibran books (some paperbacks) are available on Amazon.    Maybe you can start your collection over!    I'm sure you would say,  "It's never too late".    di

I used to read parts of The Prophet to my counseling class.

Here is some more Khalil Gibran

Yesterday we obeyed kings and bent our necks before emperors. But today we kneel only to truth, follow only beauty, and obey only love.

Are you a politician asking what your country can do for you or a zealous one asking what you can do for your country? If you are the first, then you are a parasite; if the second, then you are an oasis in the desert.

Safeguarding the rights of others is the most noble and beautiful end of a human being.

The person you consider ignorant and insignificant is the one who came from God, that he might learn bliss from grief and knowledge from gloom.

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.

Perplexity is the beginning of knowledge.

When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

@EatWell ...That never became an issue and it went by the wayside.

@Desertdi ...Thanks for that bit of information.  I'll check it out and depending the cost I just might own a set of those books again.  I would love Lindsay to have them.

@Lindsays Grandma        I have spent 26 years (since the '94 quake) searching E-bay, thrift stores, etc., trying to replace some of my favorite things.    I can't tell you how good it feels to find a duplicate of one of my old treasures!  di
