I indulged my guilty pleasure of a Spicy Famous Bowl for lunch. It took 5 seconds from the microphone to the pickup window, and a hand was already reaching out with my drink. I said "You're too fast for me!!"

The young woman answered, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" and burst into tears.

"What's wrong?"

"They've got us on a timer," and more tears.

"I haven't gotten my wallet out yet."

Again "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"

I couldn't get any words out to console her. I nodded, took my bag and drove off.

You would think they'd be happy to have enough employees rather than timing them!

Oh my gosh, that is horrible...I feel so for that poor woman working under such pressure as to be timed and causing her to burst into tears!...I would also be very concerned as to how well my food was being handled under such conditions.

@PickyPicky3    Maybe the calorie gods were trying to tell you something?

I know how she feels.

I've been in insurance call centers for over 30 years. Three different companies, dental and medical.   Calls should be under 3 minutes.  Paying claims are 20-40 per hour depending on type of claim.  Of course 100% accuracy.

I blame my short attention span on my employment.

Maybe that's not the way to keep employees.

Poor thing. Recently I have seen many very, very young people now working in low level service jobs.  There is a lot of stress, and they can get overwhelmed.

Maybe your tone of voice scared her, or she thought you were criticizing her with your comments.

I try to be super nice to all these young workers, and I  always try to be calm and funny and make them laugh.

Hopefully in a few weeks she will feel more comfortable in the job, or there will be another opening at KFC.

They also time the checkers at the grocery store.  They are to scan  items so many a minute.  I forget how many but, its alot of items per minute.  I was surprised.
