There are ferals in my area.  One bit a neighbor and he had a stroke due to infection.  One clawed my dog and he nearly died due to an infection in his spinal cord.

I know this is different than a "family pet", but one has to wonder how the whole thing gets started.

A neighbor feeds and shelters them.  They destroy song birds and other essential creatures (lizards, frogs) and I resent greatly their presence in my garden.

My dog is leashed, unless he is on my private property.  I do not subject others to my "pet", at random.  JMO

I hope the cats are found, very sad. And we never ever let our cats out. People in this world are too cruel, plus other animals could get them. So they stay safely inside at all times.

We would all be safe if we stayed inside every minute too.  But we don't.

@Spurt

@Nightowlz

Thats an EXCELLANT idea SPURT to get a news channel involved!

ours has an investigative team that tries to "right" the "wrongs" of companies or other individuals who dont do a job or take advantage of people or owe money, etc.

they go right to the source and put them on camera!  they get results!

I don't get this.

There is simply no equivalency to a human being out in the world and an animal. An animal who has been domesticated to the point of complete reliance on humans for their needs.

I guess the closet comparison I can think of would be turning a one year old child outside on their own.  I am "safe" outside, so they should be too. Ridiculous? of course it is.  But that's basically what you are saying.

I would never let my cats out.  Their life expectancy goes down dramatically.

There is no reason to let a cat out if you care about it.  I know some people feel they NEED to go out or they won't be happy.  They will get used to being inside.

Don't let them out.
