K-cups and power outages

When we lost power for 12 days,after Sandy, I couldn't use my Keriug and couldn't find my old percolator pot.So I just dumped the coffee in the k-cup into a strainer and poured boiling water over it into my cup and it was perfect.Just the same as if I used my Keriug.
