Could the weather be any worse at the Preakness?  Not only is it wet, rainy and muddy but it's so foggy, I don't know how they're going to call the race.  Those horses must think their prople are nuts.

@Kachina624, it was very rainy at the Kentucky Derby too. With all the hoopla for the royal wedding, I forgot to watch the race! I'm glad Justify won, I would love to see a Triple Crown winner!

The Stronach Group and the Maryland Jockey Club announced that total handle on Saturday’s 143rd Preakness Stakes, won by Justify, was $93,655,128.

The handle, as well as the crowd of 134,487, was the third-largest in Preakness history.

Despite rain showers, a sloppy track and dense fog, an energetic crowd was treated to 14 races, world-class dining, and entertainment featuring Post Malone, 21 Savage and ODESZA.

I am thrilled for both the horse and the rider!  Yes, it was a terribly exciting race!  The horse is gorgeous and Mike Smith is no slouch either.  They are both champions, for sure!!!!

So I just watched the race on You Tube, a video provided by NBC Sports. OMG, it was so foggy I couldn't even see the horses at times! I do enjoy watching the race, however I don't like that the jockeys hit the horses with their crop, I wonder if it hurts the horse?

Debating if I should grab a ticket and go to the Belmont. I'm a triple crown jinx so if I do I apologize ahead of time.

@BornToShop.  Justify reminds me of California Chrome, i.e. Big Red Horse.  The Preakness was awfully close.  Another stride and he may have lost.  I don't think he's a shoo-in for the Belmont.  I think he may not make it.

@Kachina624, I agree; starting to nibble on my nails as I type!  Don’t know why, but Audible could be the spoiler.  Or some random horse out of the blue could come from nowhere, lol.  For Mike Smith’s sake, hope he can seal the deal, fingers crossed.

I was thinking Audible could be a spoiler if he goes. I actually had a derby futures bet on him.

Last I heard Bravazo is going to the Belmont so he could be a problem unless he's tired out. And Saez is a regular rider at Belmont so he's not one of the people who panics and moves to soon like some outsiders do.

Tenfold could be a problem too if he goes.

@pigletsmom, and then there is the weather...Mother Nature always must be factored into this.  I am still thinking Audible.
