One suggestion...get a big jar, start filling it with all the good things that happened this year to you (2017) and at the end of the year, read your notes. What a way to count our blessings, good times, giggles, smiles, hugs, etc. Maybe even one, will bring a smile to your face.
I may use a crock I have and try it.

I suppose that would be good for people who might forget the good things in their life. I never forget the joys and blessings in my life. I tend to forget the bad things. Which is fine, life is better when I don't remember all that stuff.

@qualitygal thank you so much for posting this as it is often the day to day things that make us happy that get lost in the overall landscape of life as unfortunately it may get run over by other things. I am going to do this, thanks so much for posting this!

Good for you that you only think positive and can remember EVERYTHING good that happens to you.

I think this sounds like a fun thing to do, and I'm going to try it. I think it's called a "gratitude jar."
For today, I'm going to put in that I made a delicious coffee cake that was enjoyed by all. It was a windy cold, day, and I felt like baking.

@Marienkaefer2 thank you for this as for me this is exactly what this thread is about! . . . it's the day to day things that make you smile that sometimes get lost, I think this is a great way to gather those moments so they don't get lost so you can draw on them if need be . . . ![]()

I don't see how anyone can forget the bad things, unless something like someone swiping your parking space is considered a bad thing.
In 2016 I was hospitalized for very serious reasons, my daughter was the passenger in a car accident and suffered a bad injury, later she was found to have a serious pain illness. I don't care about the little issues but there's no way I can forget any of those bad things.
Keeping track of niceties is a good thing.

I think it's always a good thing to count your blessings any way you can. When the bad things come along, I don't think we ever forget them. We can, however, learn from them. If it has been our habit to count our blessings, it gives us more to be grateful for in the bad times and hope for the future.
