They don't have the "assistant" sitting on the set with the computers communicating with the viewers anymore.

Was that announced or just quietly stopped?

You're right! They don't seem to have it anymore, except I did see it with DAvid Dangle on the computer a few weeks ago, talking about what people were talking about on facebook.

Maybe QVC realized how annoying it was and how it didn't add anything to the presentation other than being annoying! Did I say annoying lol! I guess too many customers expressed the opinion that we don't care who says what out there on facebook. Just trying to view and get explanation about what they are presenting.

They dumped the social media host quite some time ago.  Made Mary and Courtney hosts.  Now we just have David Dangle and occasionally the Quacker Factory guy on their computers.  Good riddance!

They still have it, quite often.  But it's done more off-camera until the QVC host purposefully brings them back to the center of the presentation, or asks them one of the questions or issues from the chat.  Patrick does it for Angel when he flys in, Joakim for Liam & Vionic, Jacqui Stafford for Isaac, and Jesse Holeva for Lori Goldstein are the ones I've seen recently.

That's what I've noticed, too. And instead of a person at a laptop they have a person with an iPad connected to a TV on the wall, so the person with the iPad can find something on Facebook and display it on the monitor for everyone to see.

Huh????   In recent years, I bought 3 computers from QVC.  There was the host ad the vendor's rep.  There never was a thrid person.

They don't always have them for every show. They usually do it when they are wanting to generate a lot of viewing for certain shows and they post about it on facebook and let people know they will be on to chat and answer questions during the show. It is a way to make viewers feel like they are part of the show and to generate more sales.

Re: Just noticed this!

I remember when they used to have QVC employees on set doing social media. Certain shows/hosts had their own dedicated assistants. I think Katie, who's now working full time for Lisa Robertson, and her twin sister Erin were two of them (why oh why do I know this???).
