Sony would be darned if they did and darn't if they didn't.

Not releasing this movie causes cringing regarding freedom.

Releasing this movie, and heaven forbid some nut case decides to take out folks in the theater - then the theater and Sony would be sued.

It's a no-win situation. My take is that the movie sounds juvenile and who really would want to see it? I don't know.

But we had satirical movies about other leaders with no backlash. This just seems to be North Korean chest pounding but who wants to take the chance after the hacking??

I just wonder if they made a movie about killing our President, how would it be received?

Seth is one of my favorite actors. I really don't know about this curent movie.

I have to agree, or at least they should have had a fictitious dictator since the plot was supposedly fictitious. There is the other aspect, the cultural one. There's a big difference between cultures when it comes to how they interpret satire. There are some who see everything as black or white with no gray area in between. There are also those who don't have a concept of satire or slap stick comedy within their cultures. We tend to expect the world to see things from our point of view, which is arrogant at best. I don't know why anyone is surprised that a totalitarian country would take offense to a movie depicting their leader as an object for assassination. Let's see, how would this "democracy" view a movie made by a foreign country depicting the assassination of the U.S. president? Oh yeah, let's look at it from the view of a president of EITHER party. Had to qualify that for obvious reasons.

Death of a President - 2006 - mockumentary - I think it may have even won an award or two. From the UK I do believe.

The Assassination of a President - A Love Story - 2007 - from ??? not sure where he is from

That said . . . I've never seen the movie, the former . . . nor read the book, the latter.

Just commenting it has been done.
