Yes, this is the second time in one week this has happened to me. Wonder who the heck has a right to be making these kinds of calls. Didn't pick up the phone to answer it.

Hi, ShowMe! I'm praying for your safety, and for all those in the area affected by the distressing events there.
I'm sorry you're still getting those spoofed caller IDs. If you haven't already done so, take a look at the free service Nomorobo. It blocks many unwanted calls. You can go to the website, plug in your info where it says "Get Started Now," and see if you can sign up.
It's not available everywhere yet, but if it's not offered in your area or by your provider you'll see a number to call and ask them to add the service. The more people who ask for it, the more widely it will be available.
(You can scroll down the home page of the site and click on the many articles about this service.)

Me to me?

So, ShowMe...what happens when you answer the phone? Is it a robocall or scammer?
Thanks for that info dooBdoo. I am going to look into that myself.

Hi, croemer! I hope you're having a lovely weekend.
ShowMe has reported before that she's been receiving calls that display her own caller ID info, as if she's the one calling herself. They're just another hoax, an attempt to trick people into answering the phone and being exposed to a scam. (Best advice: do not pick up the phone if you don't recognize the caller or if it looks suspicious.)

You're welcome, Scotty! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!
I hope she didn't answer. Whenever your own caller ID is displayed, unless you really did call your own number you can be sure it's another criminal hoax, and 99.99% sure it originated in another country.

I always answer these calls and talk with myself when this happens. But! When it happens someone other than myself is on the other end of the call? Usually have a lot of fun putting them on the defensive and that usually gets them to hang up.
How it is done? Lot's of technology out there and I am sure there is a software program being sold by someone that allows this to be done. Another case of technology being used for the bad side of the ledger.

I've had the happen twice this summer. I'm relieved that someone else mentioned having the same experience. I thought I was getting senile or something - no am I not joking.

It happened to me once and it freaked me out. I've seen too many horror movies where the attacker is already in the house.
I did answer it and it was a telemarketer. If it happens again I'll do what ShowMe does and NOT answer the phone.

Yup all is good here and I hope the same for you.
I went to the nomorobo site and put in my information and it sent me a link in my email. Then I clicked on that link but I am not sure what happens after you sign up. It says something about software, etc.
How does this all work? I'm being cautious about going further
