I've been called 3 times, but only had to show up once. I sat and read magazines for six hours, then was sent home.

What a waste of your time. Like your time is not valuable. A crock of doggie dodo.

Not a waste of time but a privilege. Jury duty along with voting is part of living in a democracy and a nation of laws.

i have only been called once in my entire life and then i was released because the cases that day didnt end up needing juries.

I, too, live in CA and am called about every year and a half. Previously I was caregiver to my mother and did not have to go. The last 5 years I have gone in twice but then let go and once I called the evening before and was told I did not have to go. My husband was the most recent to get a call (he has Alzheimers), and we had the doctor send a note that he couldn't serve.

My husband and I are called continually. Not one of my six brothers or sisters in law has ever been called. It's really unfair.

I just served. Almost got on the jury panel. Neat experience.

Wish our state let me serve on Jury Duty every 2 years as I would love to do it. Sat on 9 juries over the years and it is something I always looked forward to doing.

Now 6 times on Election Duty? Not so much. I would rather round up cattle than serve on even 1 more Presidential Election Duty. Talk about chaos!

Over the years I've been called about 10 times but was never chosen because my ex was a law enforcement officer. I don't know if that's supposed to make me pro or con criminal, but they simply aren't interested in taking a chance. I did get picked as an alternate on a grand jury and served a day there.

The whole time I lived in CA I can't ever remember being called. I've lived in AZ for 26 years and have been called only twice. I served only one of those times. I think the pay was $10 or $12, can't remember which.

I've been called for jury duty 3 times. 1st time I was selected for a bank robbery gone bad where the teller was killed and manager was shot. That trial and deliberations lasted 2 weeks. The other times was for spouse abuse and the other was drunk driving were an auto accident occurred.

It's my duty as a citizen of the USA.

Can it be an inconvenience? yes, but I always go back to the thought "if not me, then who"? That's why I volunteer so much... "if not me, then who"?
