Haven't been checking my e-mails this afternoon so I thought it might be a good idea to do so. Well, I had 7 of them, and they were all junk...... Someone has been busy hoping against hope that someone will respond to them. I didn't, and didn't open any of them.

Do you have your real name on your e-mail? We don't and get hardly any junk e-mails. I didn't realize this until I was talking to my friend (long time ago) and she said that she was going to change hers, something other than her name.

My name is not part of my e-mail address and I get tons of junk mail. The most offensive e-mails I get are from the address of my dear friend who passed away three years ago. Once in awhile I will reply asking the person to stop using that e-mail address because it belonged to my friend who is no longer living. I don't know who or why someone is using that e-mail address but it is painful when I see it.

I used to get tons of junk mail when I had an "msn.com" account, but of course 99% went into the junk folder. With my Gmail account, I seldom receive any (maybe one every few months), and with my throwaway Hotmail account I get a few a day, but again they all go to my junk folder. (I have email accounts with Comcast and AT&T simply because of my use of their cable and wireless services, but I never have seen any junk mail in those -- might be because I really don't actively use them.)
You shouldn't (and don't have to) see all this spam in your IN box.
If junk mail is showing up in your IN box, it's pretty simple to start blocking mail by address, or by domain (the part of the address following the "@" sign), or by key words. How it's done depends upon which email service you have. Normally, you find it in your email Settings. In Gmail, for example, it's called "Filters," while with Hotmail it's called "Rules (for sorting new messages)."
Don't ever respond to the messages. Simply opening them might notify the sender they got a "live" account, but responding tells them that for certain. Then, you'll just get more spam.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Lindsays Grandma, and I'm sure those messages are painful to see. The same thing happened to me when AOL had their most recent hacking incident and I can understand how you feel. I'd suggest you block messages from that sender address so it won't happen again. (But, again, don't respond because that will most likely result in more of them.)
