Got the idea from Buckingham Vineyards. I'm going to make them in my Margaritaville Margarita maker. Fingers crossed!

When we were younger we enjoyed doing something on the 4th,,having friends over or going somewhere. I still like to go but all our friends are aging as well and while we enjoy seeing each other...all the prep work that goes along with getting together is an easy pass for most of us. I don't want to be a stick in the mud but I'd rather stay home.

No plans. I hate this holiday; the firecrackers scare my cats! Also, people drive drunk on this holiday WAY too much....well, once is actually WAY too may times.

@haddon9 As much as we'd like to recreate that era, it's not going to happen. Such a special time! Our children still stay in touch with the neighborhood kids, and some of them are my DD's best friends and were in eachother's weddings. The new families are very friendly, but they don't seem to have the same neighborhood picnic mentality. I sometimes wonder if we should initiate one, but it's a lot of work. It seemed a lot easier back in the day.

I doubt we will be doing much unless the BF decides to take his DIL/grandkids out on the boat on Sunday (son will be working). They have fun and it's better than when the entire family comes to our house as all the son/my BF do is watch TV rather than interact w/the kids.

I don't go as it's very difficult for me to get in/out of the boat and I really enjoy the alone time at home!

@PartDeux My brother moved to Buckingham Springs which is ten minutes from me! It's right across the street from Buckingham Vineyards. He loves it there and he's very active in the community.

Hope your slushies come out great!

I will ask my brother to stop by and pick up some strawberry wine for Sunday!!

@Mom2Dogs I totally understand dhow you feel! All of the cleaning, decorating and food prep then cleaning up again can be exhausting!

As I mentioned in my OP, my neighbors are hosting a block like party but it's too much for my DH who is disabled and it would be difficult for him to walk in the dark over to their patio at night so I will ask some friends who live around the corner to just come over for dessert and to watch them from our backyard.

I'm so sorry to hear that @branny you have my sympathy.

My little one suffered through the noise of the town fireworks held last night. But it's not over. One of our neighbors has his own fireworks every 4th. They are close and the noise is frightening to my girl. He has them late at night so I will turn the TVs up and crank the air conditioning up too...
