Re: Joyce Mitchell Is Sentenced

What a sad turn her life took.

I really hope she gets her life in order and some help while she is in prison.

Re: Joyce Mitchell Is Sentenced

This woman got off easy. Perhaps she can be the inmate that works in the prision sewing the uniforms since she taught the inmates how to sew. LOL

I watched the Dateline special on her and I don't believe a word she says that she was not 'intimate" with either prisoner. Her story doesn't add up. I believe the surviving inmate that escaped that she planned that Matt would kill her husband.

I think she had a really good paying job there,  she was just foolish in so many ways.

Re: Joyce Mitchell Is Sentenced

The sentence, two to seven years, isn't long enough. Certainly not long enough to dissuade the next Joyce Mitchell from attempting a similar stunt - the reward may outweigh the risk.  Taxpayers will foot the bill, of course.

Not understanding the comments about tax payers footing the bill.

We always foot the bill for people going to prison.

I remember some movements to have the wealthy pay their own prison cost, but I don't know if that ever happened.

Re: Joyce Mitchell Is Sentenced

The sentence is light considering she could be out in 2 years.

Regardless...She has ruined her life

Not a bad idea! Smiley Wink Unfortunately, the majority of people in prison wouldn't have the funding to do that. But that's a whole other soapbox you don't want me on........

Re: Joyce Mitchell Is Sentenced

Why bother giving her any time at all?  It was soft slap on the wrist.  I assume with good behavior, she'll be out in 7 or 8 months.  Can you imagine what would have happened if a male guard helped inmates escape; he'd get a 20 year prison sentence.
