Today is a sad day for me, a huge Beatles fan. John Lennon was shot to death by a maniac today in 1980, 37 years ago. One can only Imagine what beautiful songs John would have written in those 37 years that he hasn't been here with us.
Rest in peace, John Lennon. Gone way too soon, and too young. I'll always love your music that you did get to write, esp. with McCartney. The two of you together were genius songwriters and, as history has proven, the songs are still loved and enjoyed long after your death.

Such an iconic talent.
'imagine' is a favorite of mine.

If you get the opportunity go see Paul McCartney. We saw him 2 or 3 years ago and it was a surreal experience to be singing the Beatles songs with one of the Beatles. I was not lucky enough to see them when they came to USA. Next to seeing Elvis in concert I was awestruck. So sorry when John died. Music is the universal language IMO.

@OKPrincess I know! I thought the exact same thing! I've seen MACCA in concert three times (2005, 2015 and 2016). I sat there thinking, "I can't believe I'm singing Obla-Di, Obla-Da with one of the Beatles, the one who wrote it!" It was just amazing. His concerts are amazing and talk about getting your money's worth! Over three hours each of MACCA. I can't believe there is so much talent in one person.

I thought of that today and remember it like it was yesterday. Shocking and such a loss. I played his "Double Fantasy" album over and over and over after hearing he had been killed. I was lucky enough to see The Beatles in concert when I was a teenager. I've also seen Ringo and The All Starr Band twice and Paul once. All amazing!

It's funny, I just heard "Imagine" on the radio yesterday and was thinking the anniversary of John Lennon's death was coming up. A beautiful song that really makes you stop and think.

Yes, I remember that sad day. I was living and working in NY. It is hard for me to believe that it was that long ago.

Its a sad day for me too. I am also a huge Beatles fan. I played Beatles music earlier today. I also watched the video of people paying their respects and singing at the Imagine memorial in NYC. Its sad enough when someone dies but to be taken away in the way he was makes it even worse. And I wont go on about it but why does the perp get to live when John did not :-(
