I always find it a bit ironic that we have threads going about bullying and yet some of us give Joan a free pass for basically denigrating another woman because of her weight. Some will say it is just for laughs and fine but then there are some of us who find her humor offensive.

How do we teach our children that it is wrong to call out people for their weight when we give a free pass to adults who do it. And there are plenty of ways to be funny without making fun of a person's size....good comediennes don't need to make cheap shots.

Exactly! What does it say about us (us in general as a society) if she makes her living doing this?

Good point....

Re: Joan Rivers does it AGAIN with her big mouth

Telling Joan Rivers to zip her mouth is pretty futile. This is still the USA, no?

A person with a show on HBO doesn't have to worry about Joan Rivers.

Re: Joan Rivers does it AGAIN with her big mouth

I think it's sad that a woman makes a lot of money making fun of other women and at times their children.

I recall Joan Rivers was more than protective when negative comments were made about her daughter and grandson.

Don't even get me started on her vulgar mouth. I choose not to watch her but I am frequently subjected to clips from her reality show.

There was a time her form of comedy was only in clubs or after hour TV shows. The blurbs for her TV shows play day and night.

I use to like Joan. I even got to hand her her microphone on her old talk show. I loved watching her with Kathy Levine.

For all of you perfect people .... this is her job ... this is Joan. There has been worse said on these threads. At least she gets paid for being rude.

ITA Preds!! I also found this thread amusing since the OP is often one to start topics criticizing celebrities looks and/or weight. I had to go look up hypocrite in my dictionary again just to be sure.

Re: Joan Rivers does it AGAIN with her big mouth

You know I've heard her speak about Ernie Borgnine's looks before which would definitely hurt his wife's feelings. So I guess Edgar was her idea of handsome....

But the worst thing I've ever heard her say and so did millions of others whom I'm sure were also watching her show with Melissa.

She reference a Hollywood homes tour that included going past Jayne Mansfield's house 'where you get to see her head rolling down the driveway'.

That's disgusting to the nth degree.

Too bad Mariska Hartegay didn't sue her asss off.

I wish somehow she would lose every penny she ever made.

Re: Joan Rivers does it AGAIN with her big mouth

I well remember how defensive she got when it came to people talking about her family but comedy or not or it being her, it just isn't right. Seems she's gotten more nastier in her old age, much be that pulling behind her ears.

Joan Rivers is 80 years old. She has been using the Don Rickles style of comedy all her life. I think it is very old school and don't really care for it. She won't change. I tune her out like I do my Dad when he says something crazy.

Re: Joan Rivers does it AGAIN with her big mouth

Joan Rivers just turned 80 years old, and she has made a career of being crass, just like many other comics. Strange how male comedians can be vulgar and somehow get some free pass. Anyone remember George Carlin back in his day? Eddie Murphy was pretty foul in his early comedy long before he became a Disney voice. Richard Pryor, Andrew Dice Clay, Sam Kinison, Bog Saget (played the sweet dad on Full House, but is one foul guy). There are many more I am forgetting to list, but the point is that "gross" humor will always have an audience. There are some people who find that funny. Not to defend Joan, but she is one of the most self-depricating comics out there. Her shtick is to make fun of others and she gets paid well to do it. If you don't like her, don't watch her, but I doubt she is going to change her style of comedy now. It's ironic how some people here in the forum think nothing of making fun of people's looks, yet persecute a celebrity who gets paid to do it for a career. I would be willing to bet those celebrities that Joan insults don't get nearly as upset as some of the women here.

Re: Joan Rivers does it AGAIN with her big mouth

George Carlin was not crass. About as good and as brilliant as comedians are. Mealy mouthed people don't like comedians. Mealy mouthed people usually also have no sense of humor.
