Joan Rivers Twittered about Elizabeth Taylor's Death

Joan Rivers stated on her twitter today: "Sad to hear of Elizabeth Taylor’s death. She was the 1st major celebrity to join me in the fight against AIDS when it wasn't a popular cause"

I couldn't help wonder - wasn't Joan terribly mean to Elizabeth in the early 1980's? I remember clearly that Elizabeth couldn't stand Joan for doing fat jokes and following her around. Did they make up?

And I thought Elizabeth was the one who started the fight against AIDS. ???

RIP Elizabeth.
