Not only did I hear about Jared, it was followed by a story of a local guy who was nailed for child p**n.  I just don't understand it.  Not one bit.

I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt when I first read about the story.

So, various media outlets have varying stories about his involvement?

My take is this, if HE KNEW his co-worker had this filth in the office or at home and did nothing about it - he's guilty at ;east of complicity.

What's odd to me is that we know the other guy had something like 500 pages of the illegal stuff, so that's out there. But so far, I haven't heard a thing from the media or the police about what they found when they went through Jared's house last month. Not that I've been keeping close eyes on the story, but when I saw the thread I did go a check and I couldn't find anything. You'd think they'd say what they found. In fact I'm surprised they didn't state it earlier.

This only goes to further demonstrate why its never wise to trust a man hawking a 6-inch meat sandwich.

Sadly, besides the disgust of it all, I think we are constantly being made increasingly aware of just how rather common all of this behavior is in society.

I suppose people are more complicated than we like to paint them. People do have a dark side. I mean, there is something to Jungian theory and to the concepts of good & evil, too, I suppose. We're not all Mr. Rogers or Mrs. Clauses, after all.

But I also think that its one more reason to truly study the psychology of sex - as aberrant behaviors aren't really as uncommon as we simply like to think.

I mean, how many times are we all going to be "shocked and angered" over such stories before we realize that such is happening all the time to or with someone somewhere at almost every moment of the day.

What's more amazing actually is how many of us survive UNscathed. The more that people open up and the taboo of looking at such things is overcome, the more we realize how many people live/have lived through such things. I mean, from this case to the Duggars to Bill Cosby to the Vatican scandals to Boy Scout sex files to school teachers gone wild, all of these crimes only demonstrate something darker about the human being (which realistically always was and is and probably will continue to be).

It's tragic, yet interesting, how it's usually the male gender that's attracted to it, though.

I almost always think of the psychological aspect of things, especially as most people aren't born "bad.".

The local pig I heard about is a 21 year day camp counselor.  Every time I turn around I am hearing about this lately.  If it's not camp counselors, it's teachers behaving inappropriately with children.

Yes, you are right.  What alarms me is the number of cases that I am hearing about.
