Mousie, Thank you. I needed a reminder. I hope you are all surviving the remodeling ok. How much longer will it be??? Any rain in your part of California yet???

i possumm -Great kitty pics! I always picture Stripes as an orange tabby, so Winifred, what color is he?

it will be at least two months before the kitchen is done, and am hoping it will be done sooner than the family room, which is still not finished due to defective drawers.cabinets, etc., and I am still painting it. The previous owners painted over natural wood beams, dreadful, so I am painting them a brown wood color, since I can't restore them, and I am liking how they are turning out. They are still outside building the foundation and drains, etc. for the extension of six feet out, and new deck, as the previous deck rotted, and my first realization of that was when I fell through it up to my waist one day, years ago. DH and DD, very young, sat on the swing down the yard eating watermelon as I shrieked for help, lol. I had a bruise on my thigh the size of a butternut squash, almost. I fell through the deck on another corner a while later, at which point DH and I decided to demolish the deck, build some stairs from the kitchen to the yard, and wait until the remodeling began. The entire project began on October 1. I can see now that to get everything back in order will be at least another year and a half, i.e., getting the construction done, and getting everything back where it belongs, and of course, it will be interrupted later on when I will want to get into the yard to plant. The weather the last few days has been beautiful, very warm, but scary also, because there has been no rain since last winter. I hope the rain holds off until the construction is done, and then it can rain for many months afterward as far as I am concerned. I am pretty much going this project alone, and as my Mother used to say, "it tain't easy, Magee!"

DH is helping by taping so I can paint, and other things, but as far as dealing with the contractor, etc., on a daily basis, it is me, which is fine, as long as DH does things that will save us money. It is shocking how much things cost. DH grumbled at first, but when I explained that we could save thousands of dollars by painting, and doing everything we possible can, he relented. He is really very handy, and I think could build a house if he didn't have to make a living. Smiley Happy

The poor plants are flowering now and I am worried that since they didn't get a break, they may suffer. I have heirloom climbing Lady Banks that leafed out when we had that terrible freeze, and are now losing leaves just when they should be growing leaves.

As I mentioned before, we are hermetically sealed on one side of the house. The poor dogs hear things, but can't see out from the kitchen, though I do get them to the patch on the warmer days, and of course, we make potty runs often during a twenty-four hour period.

I hope you are enjoying nice weather. I love snow, but when I hear about the treacherous conditions in some parts of the Country, I am grateful for CA weather, which in some parts, does have snow, though we don't venture there any longer. Smiley Sad

I hope everyone enjoys the coming week. Smiley Happy

Re: January Bird's Nest - Ringing in the New Year

Stripes is a grey and white striped tabby. Top of his face is striped and the bottom white - and he is ONE BIG MACHO cat. He is beautiful and so sweet - BUT, he has a habit of playing and sometimes he gets carried away. LOL. This morning he was grabbing my wrist and he bit a little too hard. He just rarely does that but for some reason he got a little rough. Of course my skin is so thin I break it by just rubbing against something. Sigh. He also has very pointed ears with little tufts at the peak.

Speaking of Stripes I need to see if I can find him - he has been sooooooooo good for soooooo long yet a couple of times he made me nervous. Guess he wants me to remember he is the macho in the family - well we won't tell Conrad.

Hope all had a great day.

Re: January Bird's Nest - Ringing in the New Year

Happy Birthday a day late Winifred. The wishes are the same. I hope you had a memorable day.

Not much happening around here. Took little Mia the abby girl to the vet today. She is a little thing and has lost some weight. Vet couldn't find anything wrong. We are feeding her more and apart from the others so we can monitor how much she eats which isn't a lot. She is very petite. Thank goodness she is fine.

Our weather is chilly for us but nothing like the rest of the country is having. We are having a lot of fog and then the sun finally breaks through.

Next Tuesday we will celebrate our 53rd anniversary. Nothing planned either except to watch shark tank our favorite show.

We have a nice fire going and the cats are all stretched out except Kallee. I bought a kitty bed heating pad and she has found it and practically lives in it. It automatically shuts off when they are not on it. I wish I had bought two.

I need to head to bed. I also need to come back and read a lot of your posts. Chat later.
