I've been driving for 49 years - and thru the years was involved in approx. 10 car accidents --- where it was stop and go traffic - and the person behind me forgot to stop - and would hit the back of my car. In the year 2000, I was exiting the open parking lot of my lawyers office (I had a workers comp claim against my employer) --- and saw an 18 wheeler drive down the street and stop (it was a side street with no other cars). So - I exited the parking lot and the dumb guy starts backing up the 18 wheeler - and the back of the truck landed on the hood of my car. I kept honking my horn - but he never stopped. Several people ran out of the building and I had a witness. This was a major Trucking Company - and it said RENT IT in big letter on the truck. I had to have arthroscopic knee surgery and I'm still traumatized 17 yrs later. I freak out in a car - whether I'm driving or someone is driving me. I used to love driving around --- but now I'm panicky and just want to go home. The trucking company's insurance only paid to repair my car and my medical bills. I received no money for my injury. Someone referred me to this lawyer - who I couldn't stand - and I always felt that he kept the money I should have received. When involved in an accident, I don't understand why insurance companies .make the checks out to the law firms - and the lawyer is then supposed to write a check to the client. There's absolutely no way to find out if they kept my money.

@kivah How awful! I can certainly understand your being traumatized. If you can't speak with a professional, you might seek out support groups locally or online. Best wishes to you.

Jacque is a lovely, kind, gracious woman.  I met her.  I had a conversation with her at a Beauty Bash dinner.  She is a doll.

@winamac1 You're very kind to defend her. Smiley Happy I'd just like to add to what others have said to you and say that one can be a lovely, gracious woman AND suffer post traumatic stress disorder, or any other type of mental illness. PTSD isn't an insult. It's like defending someone who has been called gay. It's only an insult if you think being gay is a negative thing. In any event, your heart was in the right place, and you're clearly a good, protective person. I'm very glad she shared what she did; we have to be more open about brain damage and mental illness. Harm to your brain should have no more stigma than any other part of your body. Most adults don't even know how their brains function, or how to best input or recall information! Smiley Happy

@Tukey PTSD stands for post traumatic shock disorder, and it can happen to many people, not just the military. Children who experience severe abuse or anyone who's been in a terrible car accident; essentially, a traumatic event that your mind doesn't know how to cope with. It's very sad, and very misunderstood. Hope that helps! Smiley Happy

It's actually post traumatic stress disorder.

Oh for goodness sakes @Lipstickdiva lol! I don't know why on Earth I said that! I must have read "shock" in someone else's comment or had it on my mind. Thank you for correcting me so others had the right info! What a goofball I am! Smiley Happy

I watched Jacque over the years and thought she was a fine host, not the best nor the worst.

The thing I noticed about Jacque over the years was the erratic way she personally took care of herself. Jacque could look beautifully groomed and cared for at one time and then at another, she looked uncared for, dishevelled, and sloppy.

Like a lot of women, she went up and down in an obvious way with her weight. Many times I noticed when she was gone for a while, she returned all renewed and looked gorgeous.

I think what happened with Jacque were issues going on with herself. I wouldn't be surprised if one day she returned to the Q. She was there l7 years and always seemed to love her job, saying many times how she always wanted to work at the Q. She just may need time for herself.

Hi LIbby.  I know all about PTSD.  I sold a pharmaceutical to psychiatrists for 10 years that was also approved for PTSD.  I know the definition, and I know the treatment modalities.

I just didn't know she had stated she suffered from PTSD.  I was "defending" her until someone kindly shared that she stated she had it.  I didn't think she'd want that label thrown on her in a flippant way.  I was wrong as I was corrected that she stated it.

Thanks

@febe1

As to her weight gain, she talked many times about having to use steroids to control her severe asthma and allergies.

Steroids cause weight gain and puffiness of the face.

update for those interested.....

I can't tell you all how much your messages of encouragement regarding my PTSD have meant to me! Thank you so much. PTSD does not define who I am. It just happens to be a component of who I am. There are several components to what's caused my PTSD (or as my doctors have said that I have CPTSD - Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder…
