@Mominohio, You are one amazing lady!  You should be very proud of what you manage to do.  If it's any consolation to you, I couldn't go to our local craft fair, as well as a huge Early American themed craft fair about an hour away due to a big flair up of my back problems.  A bummer to be sure, but it saved a lot of drooling and temptation to buy a lot of stuff I don't need.  But DH went to our local fair and came home with a pretty necklace for me.  A small carved bone flower on a silver chain.  Yes, he's a keeper.  We will be married for 50 years in November.  I am sure your DH and DS certainly appreciate you!  Bet your home is lovely, and your meals are yummy!

@PamfromCT

Thanks for the kind words, and congrats on 50 years married. That is quite an achievement in this day and age.

I'd have loved to go to that Early American craft fair in your area! I can imagine how much trouble I could get into there!

I used to love the craft fair in the woods type events, and went to a couple every year. Many of them around here started out with true craftsmanship and more organic type products, but they have strayed from that now and look closer to a church bazaar than a true craft show. Sad, because I got some really nice, 'authentic' things, all hand made and very natural/organic/primitive or time specific.

At least ANOTHER week of summer here in southwest Ohio, temps mid to upper 80's. Ugh.

Thank you for your kind words.  It is unfortunate that Early American types of furnishings have fallen out of favor, at least in our area.  The noted Hitchcock Chair factory in Riverton closed several years ago, although there is a current attempt to try to start up a smaller version.  What a shame this was.  Another furniture and accessory store, a family business since the 1800s, went out of business.

If you want ideas, and a chance to drool, you can check out a few websites.  MB Historic Decor for gorgeous and authentic stencils.  Also check out Circa1820.com and 13th Colony.  You can get catalogs from Williamsburg and Monticello - expensive but it can give you ideas.  I also love the Shaker Workshops catalog.  It may be 13th Colony (I have a bad memory), but you can find copies of authentic Early American paintings, with a canvas-type finish, framed.  I don't buy much, but it is so much fun to drool.

@Mominohio, Yes, it is 13th Colony where you can get reasonable reproduction paintings.  On the 13th Colony site, click on Needfuls, then Gathering Room, then 17th and 18th Century.  I do have "Rosa Heywood" in my LR.  I am trying to convince DH that "Boy With White Dog" would be perfect for FR.  pictures are framed, shipped free, for about $110.  Can't beat that.

@Mominohio  You go  girl!

I hit one of the local orchards up here yesterday,  still 80 degrees here and apples are just coming in.

I bought a peck of macintosh to try, this crop is a winner so I'll be back in a week or two.  Combined with a trip to the Mennonite bulk store =apple pie baking for sure!

I'd still like to make a trip to Kidron but the weather has been so hot!

@Snowpuppy

I love Kidron! We get there about every 6 weeks or so!

The weather has moderated some, but not enough to suit me yet. I prefer highs of about 80 or so with no humidity for September.

Maybe we'll get there by Halloween!

I'm up north on the lake here in Ohio.  We are getting glimpses of fall but Thursday it's supposed to be 88 and Friday 86.

Mornings are cool and dewey and evenings are cool as well.  Some trees are starting to change but not many.  The a/c is still running.
