Guess we have to get rid of the songs like Santa Clause is coming to town, etc.  My grands love it and have for years.  They are now 12 and 17 and they still do it.  it's as harmless as the Easter bunny.  Adults always find a way to mess things up, my goodness what upheaval over a simple fun activity. BTW advent candles and calender so all bases are covered.

@mac116  - Our 7 year old granchild lives with us and we don't use it as a way to keep him in line or anything negative.  Every morning, he enjoys running around the house looking for the elf.   As you said, it's harmless fun and why not let him believe in the magic of Christmas before it's time to grow up.

I remember that elf from when I was a child.  He arrived hugging a Whitman candy box.  My kids had them too.

The person/s who dreamed up the notion that this elf was capable of watching children is nutty.  We never had a " live" stuffed Elf in our home and never will.

There is already enough creepy stuff kids and adults are afraid of.

Just give me the candy...no elf needed.
