Here's why it's time for this post. I will try and keep it short. I have been taking care of my mom for quite some time and she recently passed away. She was not only my mom but my best friend and I am having a very difficult time.

I found QVC while flipping the channels one day. There was Isaac Mizrahi. I watched his show and the next and the next and the next, etc...It took me about 3 weeks before I purchased something. You see I haven't purchased anything for myself, clothing or other stuff, for a very long time. I am embarressed to tell everyone just how long. My husband would always tell me to go out and buy something for myself. My mom would always want to take me shopping. She would say "come on - I'll buy you a coat or a dress". But I always said "mom we can go, but I want you to buy something for yourself". I have no doubt that my mom is so very happy right now because of all the clothes I am finally buying for myself. My husband even said, "yippee you are finally shopping".

I have been reading posts for awhile and I feel that right now I need the fellowship that this community is all about.

Sometimes the strength within you is not a big fiery flame for all to see. It is just a tiny spark that whispers ever so softly "You Got This - Keep Going"

@SandPiper

I am sorry for your loss but glad you're going to take care of yourself now Smiley Happy

It can get stormy around here at times, but there are so many wonderful people on Chat, on the Among Friends forum, too.

And if you like to cook, I love the Kitchen and Recipe boards, very friendly there.

Welcome @SandPiper, I don't post often myself, but read a lot. I can assure you these girls/ladies are the greatest.

My sympathies go out to you, it does gently get easier believe it or not when you lose someone you love.

Hoping you find the "fellowship" you desire on this BB, and more importantly in RL.

Welcome, now is your time. You sound like you have a very supportive husband, and caring and loving too.  Welcome again, and I'm sure you'll get to know some nice ladies on here.

What a blessing you were to your Mom all your life.  Find the new path ahead for you and your dear husband in this next phase of your life together and travel it wearing  brand new clothes.

@SandPiper  Welcome to the boards.  I'm very sorry you lost your mom and your best friend.   I hope you'll continue to "hang out" with us here, and maybe you'll make some new friends!  Cat Very Happy
