Re: Is there anyone who really LIKES this forum?

Mellie, why do you keep posting here if you think this board "sucks the big one"?

For me, I am glad that Gamers got their own board back so that things might get easier here. Don't know if I "like" it here yet, though, with the changes.  I've checked out Dam Yankee's site and may just post there.

I don't want to go back and forth between boards.  Too time consuming.

Justina, ok, I misunderstood.  Yes, they need to take the heading off of the replies, and then there would be more room on the screen.

The bottom line for me is ease of communication...being able to exchange information and ideas easily.  This new formatting and navigation is the antithesis of that.   You can have your cutesy little features.  I want a site that doesn't waste my time in trying to do a simple post and finding threads I previously posted on....AND showing more than one response on the screen at a time.

Yes.  It sucks big time.

I changed my settings to show 25 responses on the screen at the same time.  At least I think this is what you mean.  My Settings>Preferences>Linear Layouts>Posts Per Topic

Actually that's not what I mean but thanks anyhow NickNack.  I have my setting for 50.

What I meant was....just in viewing (reading) responses on a thread I am not able to see more than one or two responses on the screen at a time.  Why?  Because there is so much wasted space in the response boxes....taken up by avatars, heart buttons, etc. and just plain ol' wasted white space.  With the old formatting you could see quite a few responses at once on the screen.  To me this is important for continuity of a conversation and not wasting so much time in scrolling...and scrolling...and scrolling to see more responses.  Hope that makes sense. Personally, I don't see a whole lot of difference between this one and the old one.  There are a few new bells and whistles which are nice and you need to navigate through your preferences and that is not a big deal because they had everythiong set to the default which is what I prefer anyway.

The problem is/was in the implementation. I don't they they were ready. (There even was a postponement). I don't think they collected enough data from the membership (all the members, not just a select few) as to what they would like. I don't think they tested things properly on the different devices people use the forums.

I agree...one thing that was a huge FAIL was that they definitely should have had access to "My Activity"!  I keep seeing questions about being able to get to that section and it just is not available.  I have tried the other suggestions to see my prior posts, but the list is very incomplete and contains some older posts.

One thing in our lives is constant and that is change. I'm getting used to this, I like the photo insertion system where you can adjust the size. Some other features are not so useful. We'll survive.

I agree, and the IT team continues to tweak it for us which I really appreciate.

It's fine with me, and still prefer to be here than any place else.

Hey, corita Smiley Happy  I do believe that there are plans to reinstate this, but in the meantime, have you tried the ridiculous workaround for this?

In the upper-right hand corner there is a search box...type your name in and where it says "Community", change the selection to "users", like this:

Capture2.PNG

That will bring you to a page that will have information about you.  One of the things is your post count.  This will be all your posts that made it over to the new site (I think they said it goes back to sometime in 2012) and should at least include all your recent posts and replies.  If you click on the number there (highlighted below), it will take you to this full list that is just like your "My Activity" used to be.  I hope this helps!

I'll admit I am not a fan of change.  That being said, the other system was so much more user friendly.  IMO, this is a complicated mess and not at all stream-lined.  The "hearts and tags" just seem like a popularity contest to me.  That's OK, I find that the less I am on these forums, the less I spend at the Q!  Again I find myself cheering "way to go Q"!

I definitely agree.  I still hang on the old addage that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.  This solid white screen is very hard on my eyes, and I tire easily of reading posts that I might otherwise have enjoyed. I reallly don't get the hearts, and I've seen a lot of posts deleted by QVC.  If this is to be a "Pollyanna" Board, what's the point.  Just say I love everything, and you've covered the things we are allowed to post. It definitely is not user friendly for me. But, as you said, the less I come to this Board the less money I am likely to spend at QVC. So I guess sthat's a win win for me.

There are still a few kinks to work out but it's looking up here.
