Oh OP I hope your dh can count on you! I don't like driving in weather either but if it comes to helping my dh I'm there no matter what. Hope your weather bypasses you.

@BirkiLadywrote:@Shorty2UCannot imagine anyone expecting to cancel a surgery at the last minute for snow. Think about all of the pre-planning and the many medical personnel involved in a surgical procedure (even a simple one). All those employees manage to make it to work on time in all weather 365 days of the year. No, surgeries are not postponed. People go to work in all kinds of weather if they expect to remain employed! Do you have any idea how that would throw off all the surgeries for the rest of the week or even month if a morning of surgeries were postponed? Schedules are made in advance for a reason. Lab work is completed and pre-op tests are run for each surgery. There is not an easy "fill in patient and procedure" for those employees scheduled to work on if you cancel. Plan on being there early and ready for the procedure. It will happen. Best wishes.
Edited: Don't you have any friends or family members who could drive you into town before the snow hits? Spend the night in a motel or hotel and take a cab to the medical facility early that morning. Then spend another night at the motel; return for the follow-up appointment and call your friends or family members to pick you up. Hopefully, the snow will have hit and been cleared enough for them to drive into the City. Perhaps you should have thought about weather before scheduling an elective surgery in March.
Umm, yes Uber drives in snow. Most drivers drive in snow.
@BirkiLady- this makes perfect sense. Get to town before the storm and spend two nights in a hotel.

Why ask here? Why not call the surgery center and find out what they're planning to do?

The smart thing to do would make alternative plans to get there.

A large snowstorm might result in cancellation, but not for five or six inches of snow. If roads are plowed, and you take it slow, you should be fine.

Yes, elective surgeries are canceled due to storms, hurricanes, blizzards etc etc. It depends on the situation. It driving conditions are extremely hazardous, most patients reschedule their surgeries themselves. No one is going to drive through raging blizzard and 2 feet of snow for something that can be done another....safer....time. You didn't say what type of corneal surgery but I do think that you need to call the surgicenter and have this conversation with them. Perhaps, due to the weather, they can push the surgery back a day or two.

My husband's hernia surgery was scheduled for a morning that resulted in 6-8 inches of snow. When I called to confirm that no surgeries had been cancelled due to weather conditions, I was told that the surgeon had stayed overnight at the hospital. The surgery was successfully performed as scheduled.

It would have to be some mighty bad weather for a facility to cancel surgeries. I never saw it happen and I live in a northern state with lots of bad winter weather. I worked in hospitals for 40 years and was expected to be there no matter what the weather.

Just wondering.......If you or your husband required a home care nurse to provide an infusion or wound care, would you be ok if they cancelled because they didn't like driving in the snow? If it were my DH, I'd make whatever arrangements I could, regardless of cost, to make sure he was ok and comfortable.

I live in Ohio and we get some bad storms. If it's that bad, police will pick up medical personnel and get them to work. Hospitals, etc. can't close down because of bad weather.
